IFI 2026 Application Open Date: November 1, 2025

Program Description

FAIMER launched the International FAIMER Institute (IFI) in 2001 with the goal of providing professional development for international health professions faculty who have demonstrated the potential to play a key role in advancing health professions education and leadership in their settings. This online program uses an interactive, high-engagement approach that focuses on Fellows’ projects as the ‘laboratory’ to apply their learning.

The IFI is a two-year, part-time, online fellowship program. Core curriculum themes include education methods, leadership and management, education scholarship and research, and project management and evaluation, as well as the development of strong professional bonds with other health professions educators. FAIMER Fellows have the unique opportunity to be part of the FAIMER global community and connect with colleagues from around the globe.

During the two-year FAIMER fellowship, Fellows focus on developing, implementing, evaluating, and disseminating an education project (their “project”) supported by didactic sessions informed by the core FAIMER fellowship curriculum.

During Year 1 of the Fellowship, Fellows focus on developing their project with guidance from a Project Advisor and their peers, seeking ethical approval (as needed), and implementation of their project.

During Year 2 of the Fellowship, Fellows continue to focus on implementation as well as evaluation and dissemination of their findings through formats such as a Project Report and/or an abstract.
